Quick Note:

I promise to post more pictures with the up-coming blogs. I FINALLY found my camera charger, so let the picture-taking begin! :)

STATE FAIR WHOO!

I decide to title this entry "State Fair Whoo" for a very fun/embarrassing/hilarious reason. A few years ago, Ryan went to the fair with some friends and they repeatedly would say "State Fair Whoo". You have to actually hear it to know how hilarious it actually sounds when my no-shame husband yells it at the top of his lungs! He also decided it was time to bring out the Midland accent. OH. DEAR.

So we obviously went to the fair recently. We chose Friday night...thinking it wouldn't be too crowded. WRONG. Ryan LOVES to embarrass me, so every few minutes the ENTIRE evening, he would randomly yell "state fair whoo" loudly and in the most country accent you can imagine. Some people looked at me and laughed as I turned BRIGHT RED, some were startled by this, and some almost looked at him with pitty due to his "special-ness". lol- ooooooooh this is one of HUNDREDS of reasons I love this man SO much.

We went on THE night that Josh Turner played, as well as M.C. Hammer. I cant begin to describe to you the moment that "Cant Touch This" began to play. It was as if the fair turned into a musical and EVERYONE started doing the same dance (or dances) including the running-man, the Roger Rabbit, and something hilarious where you move side to side quickly. Im sure there is an actual term for this! Anyways, THAT was fun. Oh, did I mention Ryan could have been a professional dancer on stage with the moves he busted out. My stomach literally was hurting from laughing so hard.

We ate our weight in food. No- seriously. we did! Lets see....Indian Taco, Corn, Cheese-on-a-stick, Cheese steak sandwich, Chocolate Covered Bacon (NASTY), aaannnnd....ok I think that's it. But still- neither of us could get our rings off that night due to all the swelling from so much sodium! Yikes! We had a BLAST though- we aren't ride-riders, so we mainly just enjoyed the buildings, the shopping, and of course- the people watching. We had a game- whoever could count the most cowboy boots worn by girls with dresses on (Evidently this is the new style- I didnt get the memo), Affliction-shirt-wearing men, and mullets, had to clean the bathrooms on Saturday! Needless to say, there were too many to count so we stopped the game to focus on enjoying the night together.

Saturday was once again- CLEANING DAY. We began with a yummy power sandwich from Panera Bread, then the project- mode began. Lawn, laundry, and the entire house. We then ended the evening by having dinner with our good friends Trish and Rod at Bin 73, and hanging out them for a while afterwards. We ALWAYS have a blast with them! Very laid back, lots of laughter, very encouraging, and we always end up staying out WAY too late just talking with them.

Sunday- I met for breakfast with Katherine, a girl I met through SWITCH (Wednesday night Youth event at our church). Katherine is amazing....we are going through the book of Isaiah together, and also reading through Beth Moore's book "So Long Insecurity." This girl absolutely blows me away- I physically WATCHED her get into a minor wreck last night in a brand new vehicle....her response: "This didn't take God by surprise." Wow...what a strong faith! Im so excited for our Sunday morning breakfasts....I think I will learn so much from being around such a Godly young woman.

Sunday evening was the Avett Brothers Concert at the Coca Cola Events Center. Extremely FUN concert, but lasted SO long that we were exhausted by 10:45 and HAD to leave. Makes me feel very old, as I used to have no problem functioning on 3 hours of sleep in college!

Well, that about sums up my weekend.....Boot Camp starts next week with some awesome girls from Life Church! Im so excited to work out with them, and get in (what I like to call) pre-pregnancy shape. Dont worry- it will still be a little while, but I MUST get in shape before it DOES happen! :)

Oh! one last fun bit of news....honeymoon to St. Lucia will be booked by Friday! Our first true vacation together! The Countdown begins....

This MADE my day!

Now....must go home and teach Franklin how to do this. He doesn't even shake, but we WILL make him pray! ;)

Funniest thing ever

So this is just for your entertainment. For some reason Ryan and I watch this OVER AND OVER AND OVER again it literally have tears running down our cheeks from laughing so hard!

Weekend? Not so much...

Wow, was that seriously a weekend that just flew by me?! Why does that happen...We anxiously await the weekend beginning first thing Monday morning, then it gets here, flies by, and we hardly know what we did?!
I am DETERMINED to not live every day for the weekend, or the next big event, but to enjoy TODAY and whatever it has in store for me! Now, saying that and doing it are two entirely different things! ;) At least I can admit this, and the fact that I know I will never NOT struggle with this. I'll never forget...every morning while waking us up for school, my dad would say "This is the day the Lord has made, let us REJOICE and be glad in it." This, at times, would drive my sister and I crazy because we were NOT morning people....now I would give anything to hear that some mornings. He also would (whether or not we wanted to) read us a daily devotional over breakfast every morning. Such sweet sweet memories of all those mornings. I hope one day we will do the same with our children- even though I am STILL NOT a morning person at all! Getting a few words out of me, much less a whole conversation is next to impossible. The good thing is- I married someone just like me. We manage just fine with hand gestures and eye contact until downing a few cups of coffee! ;) Then it's as if we both just woke up and saw one another! Haha...I love all the strange little quirks that make us "us".

Well, to re-cap the weekend,
Let me just say I. LOVE. DEEP. FORK. GRILL. That place has to be the best restaurant around. Now I haven't been everywhere in OKC to eat yet (a goal I seriously have), but they rank at the top of our list right now. Because of those "Living Social" coupons I get emailed daily, we have been twice now for a four-course tasting meal for only $25! Yes we are cheap, but proud of it! So Friday was date night at Deep Fork...crab cakes, steak, wedge salad with blue cheese crumbles, and then an assortment of key lime pie, raspberry chocolate cheesecake, and some kind of heaven-sent sorbe. haha, needless to say DIET FAIL! Ryan and I called that our "last supper" before serious healthy-eating (with NO CHEATING) begins! He had planned to take me to the fair after dinner, but instead we rented a movie. We put the movie in, and looked at each other with the same expression saying "way too tired to watch a movie." We were asleep by 9:30 which was SO nice, but made me feel so old!

Saturday was work work work day! Yard work, 11 loads of laundry, vaccuming, bathroom cleaning, kitchen floor mopping, and some more laundry! Very productive day though. I did slip in some time to get a pedicure and see my niece, Madelyn. She is the happiest little girl Ive ever known. She always makes me smile...every time I'm around her I think of the joy she has and the trust she has in others. That same joy and trust we should have in OUR Heavenly Father! So blessed by that precious little girl!

Oh did I mention, Ryan somehow managed to watch 9 hours of football? haha thanks to DVR, WE didnt miss one play of ANY game on TV! We grilled out at home Saturday night and continued watching football til we both fell asleep! Now that's my type of Saturday!

Sunday I was up super early, and decided to make Ryan breakfast in bed. Not-so-successful. Our dog, Franklin, smelled bacon and proceeded to attempt running THROUGH the bedroom door to get to the kitchen. He's a bit special ;). So Ryan was up and was so kind to say he liked breakfast even though I KNEW the bacon was undercooked, the eggs were overcooked, and the toast was a bit burned. Hey I tried! This is why HE is the cook in our home! I can do a mean load of laundry though!;)

We then went to church for an AMAZING sermon on building up the next generation, and letting them know "we believe in them"! So excited for this series to learn ways to better impact my girls at SWITCH...the Wednesday night youth event at our church.

After church, we met Chris and Angie Webb with their sweet little boy Aidan, for lunch at Chili's. I love spending time with them- always positive and uplifting. Then....began one of my LEAST favorite things to do of all time- SHOPPING. bla- I HATE shopping, unless its Christmas shopping for other people. I just needed ONE pair of gray dress pants for work. After 5 different stores, crazy traffic, and very hot weather (I have no tolerance for heat by the way), I came home with a shower caddy, a door mat, two cardigans, and matching OU shirts for Ryan and I. LOL- no pants. Oh well, still accomplished something! A nice quiet evening after that, watching one of our favorite shows- "House", then bed early again to end a productive weekend!

Now it's Monday and Im going to continue praying to hear back from that possible BIG opportunity job-wise! Pray for/with me if you think about it....really ready to be challenged and feel more productive at my job each day! Thanks for reading as I rambled on about only 48 hours! :) I plan to have more inspirational blogs along the way, but had a few friends make comments about wanting to actually read 'about my life' in at least one posting. More to come...

Friday Friday Friday!!!

After 3 diet dr. Peppers and 2 Red Bulls I feel ENERGIZED! I think the main reason is because it's FINALLY FRIDAY! This week has been extremely long and hard, but also wonderful at the same time! We had a WONDERFUL time in Houston last weekend with Ryan's brother's family....but I must admit, I was VERY tired when we got home. I wouldnt have traded that time with our precious neice and nephews for anything, but man those kids have energy! :) We did, however get some great time together, thanks to Austin and Jami, at a Dave Matthews Band concert in the Woodlands. The instrumentalists in that band could all have their own 3 hour show with the talent they each have! We really enjoyed everything about Houston...except the humidity! I dont think I can ever get used to that! (mental note: plan lots of Houston trips in the Winter)

Monday night was dinner with our family, then meeting with Cassidy for accountability (we actually went over Questions this time instead of just chatting), Tuesday night was Life Group kick-off at On the Border (SO SO FUN), Wednesday night was BIG SWITCH then coffee with a girl in my small group after, Thursday night was counseling, and tonight......(drum roll please)
DATE NIGHT!!!! Oh how it's needed! We have had a great evening every night, and doing so many GOOD things.....but a night to sit face to face and enjoy each other's company will be SO nice! Dinner at Deep Fork Grill- I love those Living Social coupons...4 course entree for two- $25!!! I cant pass up a deal like that!

To back up for a moment, can I just say how amazing God is! Our Life Group met for the first time Tuesday just to meet and get to know one another a bit. Every couple in that group is so wonderful, and we could tell already that we will LOVE spending time with them and growing together with them throughout this semester. We saw so many things we have in common (we are ALL Dexter and Lost fans it seems), and my jaw hurt so bad after leaving the restaurant because we laughed so much! Cant wait to see what God will do in and THROUGH our group!

Well, tomorrow- cleaning day, OU game (while folding the 10 loads of laundry I'll do tomorrow morning), then dinner with Chris and Angie Webb- great great friends. Sunday- church, hopefully rest, then AVETT BROTHERS CONCERT. I bought these tickets as a HUGE surprise for Ryan, but of course told him about them the second I got home from work! Should be a fun fun weekend.

Please pray for my job situation...there are a lot of unknowns at the moment, and my patience is running out. Pray for God to take away my anxiety, and give me joy IN SPITE of my circumstances when I walk through the office door every day. Pray that a VERY exciting possible opportunity (that came up today) will work out and that God will give me favor in the eyes of those considering me for this position.

On that note- I read this today and LOVE it...just had to share:
"I know that your love will last for all time, that your faithfulness is as permanent as the sky" (Psalm 89:2 TEV).

Isn't it good news to know that God never gives up on you? No matter what you do, HIS love never gives up. so so thankful for that.

Another blog to read!!!

How could I have forgotten to include this in my previous post?!
http://www.megziesmagoo.blogspot.com/ - this is the blog of my beautiful cousin, Megan! She is one of the smartest and most Christlike girls I know! It has been so fun getting to know her better over the past several years...the funny thing is that I think we really grew closer after being facebook friends! It's hard to tell someone's true personality at family christmas and thanksgiving get-togethers! ;) She is SO fun, full of life, and truly loves and cares for people in the most selfless way possible. I also recently discovered her love of travel and the outdoors! Check out her blog to see some AMAZING pics of her Alaska trip! Love this girl!!!! Oh, and how could I forget- she can bake like nobody's business- my diet goes out the window during the holidays if Megan is bringing desserts! :)

Oh and random side note: there was a snake slithering down our office hallway today. I almost ran into a wall trying to get away from it! Fortunately two brave men in our office caught it and released it outside! EW!

To Blog or not to Blog...

Well, here we go....
I have never kept a diary, a journal, or even been a "scrapbooker"...I love taking pictures, and save them on my computer- that's about the extent of my memory-keeping. I realized as I began to read the Blog's of close family members and friends, how sweet it will be one day to look back and re-read all of the thoughts, feelings, and memories recorded in their blog. I want our children (someday) to be able to read through this and know exactly what I was thinking or feeling during many of the most memorable times in our life.

Im not sure, at the moment, how in-depth I will get on here....we shall see!! :) I hope to be able to "Vent" some of my feelings, insecurities, and also prayer needs on here. If no one ever reads this, and it's just for me to 'get it all out', and have a record of memories other than pictures...then that's good enough for me!

I want to start by telling anyone who may read this to go to THE BLOG that has and is changing my life daily...well, there are actually several.

The first blog I ever read was:
http://mrstroop.blogspot.com  - written by one of the sweetest and Godliest women Ive ever had the pleasure of getting to know. Her husband was my geometry teacher, and...due to a brain-block I was borth with that makes me unable to understand ANYTHING math related...my geometry tutor as well! I was also blessed to babysit for them when they had 4 of their (I believe) 9 children! So many sweet memories of those days. What a wonderful, inspiring, and HONEST blog she has. I also have SO enjoyed reading her "thankful Thursday" posts each week...I just may try and do something similar!

The second blog I love to read through, with a box of tissues in hand, is:
http://annalightministries.com/ Let me just say- I had lunch with Anna Light about a month ago, and in that one hour, I learned more than I have in YEARS! She is a true God-send because so much of what she has struggled with, and OVERCOME is exactly what I struggle with on a DAILY basis. That one thing is insecurity. Constantly believing lies from the enemy that I am Fat, I am Ugly, I am not good enough, not smart enough....etc.....lies, lies, lies! Just go to her page, and read all that she has learned through searching the WORD DAILY for the real TRUTH! It is inspiring, and almost a daily devotional for me every morning to go back and re-read all the truth's from scripture that she has used to FIGHT the daily battle of insecurity. Anna Light is awesome....her last name says it all- she is a BRIGHT LIGHT for all who have the pleasure of knowing her!

The third blog that recently has become something I cant stop checking is:
http://prayingforliz.blogspot.com/ This is a blog that sums up what being a part of the FAMILY of God is all about! There was a sweet girl in Conway, AR who was recently in a very serious car accident. I knew her older sister, but only got to meet Elizabeth once. A dear friend of hers started this blog as a Prayer/Praise update, and to continue to update all her friends on her condition! It is absolutely amazing to read comments from people who never even met Liz, and are praying ALL OVER THE country!!! I read this multiple times a day and have been praying fervently with SO MANY other people for Elizabeth's recovery!! So far- SO many answered prayers. WOW is all I can say!

The final blog that I SO enjoy reading comes from my incredible sister-in-law:
http://www.millerbigtopcircus.blogspot.com/ I like to call Jami "super woman"! She seriously can do more than anyone I know, always putting others first, being an amazing wife and mother of 3, while smiling, and keeping a beautiful home! She recently started her own business- www.workjunkee.com , homeschools my nephew, Caleb, manages to cook the best meals ever, and also has two other part time jobs! Seriously- I want to be her someday!! She also must be the most organized person I know. We recently had the pleasure of spending some time in Houston with them and always leave feeling refreshed, encouraged, and inspired to hopefully be the amazing parents she and Austin are someday. I must say though- Ryan jokes that anytime I have "baby fever" he is planning a trip to Houston....we could definitely EASE into 3 young children, but starting off with that many is a bit overwhelming for us right now! lol! I love reading this blog because Jami is SO REAL. She is honest about how hard, fun, crazy, rewarding, exciting, scary, and wonderful it is to be a mom!

So there you have it- why I started a blog. And yes, the name of it may be a little cheesy, but like I said- the soup is too! (Also my favorite soup that I could literally eat every day)
Stay tuned for more posts about the story of Ryan and I...our first year of marriage, and what's to come in the future! :)

Closing with my absolute favorite verse:
John 16:33- "I have come that you might have peace. In this world you will have trials and tribulations, but take heart, for I have overcome the world."
